4 July
A very different 4th. No chilli and no friends at the excellent pool party.
Did have a bike ride up the Fulda, just a few hours and then we got a car and drove to Antwerp.
Moin has been discussed in a separate thread. It is more of a greeting, especially in the morning but used all day. Not a goodby or adieu. Sometimes moin moin. The closest is the Bavarian Gruss Gott.
Antwerp is a true European city. Cafes, people dressed, people strolling, packed cafes, diversity of residents and tourists. Good architecture too with a large old Gothic Dom.
Just finished an almost perfect french style fish stew with some decent rouille. What a change!! Actually we shared it to leave room for the rabbit stew with plums made in Tappist beer and Cannard in a cherry beer. Belgians have about 280 different beers. Hmm. 5 a day for x days.
