Bad Hann.Munden 2

3 July

A hot and humid day. Spent most of the morning and early afternoon trying to figure out how to leave here. Not easy as we are running out of days to get to Bruges, have time to spend there, and then bike to Rye and onto London where meet up with Bobby and Judi.

Wanted to go to Aachen by train and then bike from there. Nope. Long hard train trip with many changes and required bike reservations. Ok, got that worked out and found out that there is a Messe, trade show, there and only hotel available was 379 euro. Nope.

Back to computer and train station. Liege anyone? Nope, 8 hour trip with no ability in Germany to reserve bike places on IC trains in another country.

Gave up. Got our money back and will rent a car from Kassel, we can bike there tomorrow, and drive to Antwerp. Bike to Bruges after a short stay on the cobbles (we have been there before).

Hann.Munden may be the most story book town on the Weser, actually at the confluence of the Werra and Fulda. We take the Fulda, yesterday's photo from the hotel room, to Kassel.

We have been enjoying the contrast provided by Libby's Shanghai – Beijing tour and the small towns here where the typical size is less than 20K people. Sometimes we look before crossing a street.

Libby's latest reminds me of the similar street crossing traffic and commercial versus governmental of Saigon and Hanoi.

There is now a lovely thunderstorm outside our window. We have not had a day biking in the rain, except for quick showers, since the first week of the trip. Amazing.
